What CPU and Motherboard Should I Upgrade To for Gaming?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC with a new CPU and motherboard. Right now, I have an RTX 3070 and an i7 8700, and I mostly play CPU-intensive games like CS2, Fortnite, and League of Legends. It seems like upgrading the CPU would be a smart move. However, I'm a bit lost on what to do! Should I go for a new motherboard that supports the i5 14600KF with a socket 1700? Or would it be better to choose an AM4 motherboard and go with a Ryzen 5600X3D? Are there any better options out there? My budget is about $500 to $600. I'd really appreciate any advice on this!

A new motherboard can definitely add up, especially if you need new memory too. You might want to consider sticking with DDR4 if possible; it can save you some cash. If you're looking at the i5 13600KF or 14600KF, those are solid choices—just ensure your current RAM can handle it!

That’s what I was thinking too—keeping the old memory makes more sense.
