Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my SSD because my old one is failing after being stored for a long time. I've done some research on my motherboard, the Asrock H310CM-HDV, but I'm not completely sure if the new SSD I want, the CORSAIR MP600 ELITE 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe, will be compatible. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

M.2 drives are generally backwards compatible. Your Gen 4 SSD should work in a Gen 2 slot, but expect it to run slower than it would in its ideal Gen 4 slot.

Make sure to check if you already have an M.2 drive installed. Your motherboard only has one M.2 slot, so if it's already in use, you'll need to replace that existing drive.

I checked the specs for your motherboard, and it looks like the H310CM doesn't actually have an M.2 slot, just PCIe slots. You might want to use an x1 to M.2 adapter to connect your SSD if that’s the case.

Just a heads up, SSDs can lose data if they've been unpowered for too long. This doesn't mean they're permanently damaged though! You can usually perform a 'Secure Erase' via the BIOS, and it should work like new.
