I've been dealing with a frustrating issue on my Acer monitor for over a year now. No matter what I try, screen tearing happens consistently during movies or videos, especially when the camera pans, and there's also noticeable ghosting when I play games—it can get quite bad. My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU. I'm currently using the display port set at 180Hz, but I've experimented with lower frequencies, activated gaming modes, adjusted overdrive settings, and made sure my drivers are up to date. Despite the monitor claiming a response time of 1 - 0.5 ms, the problems continue. I'm honestly fed up and thinking about getting a new monitor. While I'm considering a Samsung model, I'd love to get some guidance, especially since I didn't face these issues with my old 1080p monitor. Is there anyone who can help steer me in the right direction?

It sounds like you're experiencing some classic symptoms that can come with certain monitors. One thing to consider is trying different cables and ports to see if the issues still crop up. Specs like a 1ms response time or high refresh rates can be misleading—pixels might not change as fast as advertised, which leads to the blurriness you're seeing. For your rig, sticking with a 1440p monitor is a good call, especially since you do have the power to handle it. Entry-level monitors might have similar issues, but definitely look into options that come recommended! I’d suggest checking out the 'Monitors Unboxed' YouTube channel; they really break down the performance of various monitors and can guide you to something solid.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve checked one of their videos out already and it’s super informative. I've got just one display port, and I did try one of the HDMI ports but no luck fixing the issues. Based on what you said, I’m leaning away from 1080p and looking into the Gigabyte M27QA instead. Looks promising!
