I'm having a frustrating issue with my Xbox controller not connecting to my PC. It works just fine with my laptop using the same controller and cable. But when I try to connect it to my desktop, it won't be detected at all. I've switched USB ports and tested other controllers and cables, but nothing seems to work. The controller doesn't show up in Device Manager or in the control panel's devices list, and when I try to add a device, it doesn't recognize it. Also, the Xbox Accessories app doesn't detect the controller and asks for an Xbox sign-in, which I don't have since I don't own an Xbox. Pairing the controller to the PC does nothing, and even using batteries doesn't help. I'm not sure where to go to manually update the drivers for the controller either. I've restarted my PC multiple times and even power cycled the controller. I bought these controllers specifically for PC use, so I really need some help troubleshooting this issue!

It sounds like a tricky situation! Just to clarify, you mentioned using the controller wired, right? Have you checked if your USB ports are functioning properly? Sometimes, devices need a reliable data connection to be recognized. You might want to try the controller in different USB slots again, ensuring that they’re indeed working with other devices like a mouse or keyboard.
Good idea! If the thumb drive works, then the ports are fine. We can dig deeper into this issue.

Yeah, I checked and the mouse and keyboard work in the USB ports. I’ll try a thumb drive next to see if that helps.
