Can’t Access My Router After Upgrading to Fiber – Any Ideas?

I'm trying to fix my parents' WiFi and I've hit a wall. After performing the usual troubleshooting steps like resetting the router, I'm unable to access it through the network by entering its IP address. Specifically, the IP for the default gateway isn't responding at all, and this is a first for me. Here are the details from my ipconfig:

- IP: 123.136.52.120
- Subnet Mask: 255.255.254.0
- Default Gateway: 123.136.52.1

What can I do to resolve this?

This might be a long shot, but it sounds like you're connected directly to the ONT (the fiber modem) without your own router in between. That could be why you're not getting through. Based on your public IP, it seems like you're in Australia. You should ideally be on a private IP address instead.

Just to clarify, 123.136.x.x is likely your public IP, which means your home network should be on something like 192.168.x.x. You might want to check if you have a router set up to handle the NAT on your network.

It might sound basic, but what address are you entering in your browser to access the router? And what kind of response are you getting? Just curious because those IP addresses seem a bit odd for a regular home network.
