How can I cool down my RTX 3080’s memory?

I recently noticed that my RTX 3080 graphics card runs at around 60°C while gaming, which seems fine. However, the memory temperature is concerning – it's hitting 98°C even with the fans cranked to 100%. I'm considering replacing the thermal pads to help with cooling. Does anyone have suggestions on how to keep the memory cooler without risking damage? I'm especially worried since I've read that letting the memory hit those high temps is a bad idea.

Replacing the thermal pads is definitely the best course of action! Even though 98°C is high, it’s not an immediate danger, but it’s certainly a good idea to bring those levels down. Upgrading to better thermal pads can make a big difference. If the previous owner used cheap ones, that could be part of the problem. Also, it might help to check your GPU's undervolting options – that’s something a lot of people find beneficial!

Yeah, I totally agree about the thermal pads. Under volting could help too. My old card had poor thermal pads and once I upgraded them, it made a noticeable difference!

Your GPU temp is actually pretty solid at 60°C, but 98°C for the memory is high. I experience 84°C on my GPU without performance limits but I wouldn't be too worried unless it goes over 100°C consistently. It's worth keeping an eye on it, and definitely look into getting quality thermal pads to avoid further issues.

I hear you! Just be careful because if your memory hits over 100°C often, that can lead to failures. Maybe consider better cooling solutions or adjusting your fan profiles!
