How Can I Transition from Warehouse Work to a Tech Career in AWS?

Hey everyone! I'm currently working in an Amazon Warehouse and have been really interested in moving into the tech field. I've heard about AWS and I'm eager to learn more about it. I've already completed a few courses on Coursera, and I'm taking an Udemy class to prepare for the Cloud Practitioner Exam. However, I'm aware that simply getting certified isn't enough to land a job. What should I focus on next? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's great that you're eager to jump into tech! Do you have any experience in a corporate IT role? If not, consider pursuing a Bachelor's degree in IT first, as it could give you a strong foundation.

Have you checked out the Amazon Technical Academy? It’s a structured program that helps people transition to software development roles, regardless of their past job. There have been success stories from various backgrounds!

Are you set on getting a job at AWS specifically, or are you open to using AWS skills for other tech roles? It sounds like you’re aiming for AWS, but if you find another tech job with better pay, would you consider it?

Definitely aiming for AWS, but I would take a better offer if it came along!

Look into Amazon's Career Choice program for some formal training. Just a heads up, starting in Customer Support might be a route for you. Remember, certifications come after gaining solid IT fundamentals!

I went through a coding boot camp that's not necessary, but it helped me land jobs mostly at startups. Check out platforms like Angel List for junior positions in your area. A few years of experience will open up more opportunities! And don't doubt yourself; if AWS is your dream, you'll get there!
