I'm having some issues with my PC while playing certain games, and I'm not really familiar with how PCs work. It seems like my GPU fans start acting up and going wild, which is pretty alarming for me. A while back, my PC actually blew up while playing a game with really high graphics settings, so seeing the fans go crazy definitely stresses me out. My current specs are: Intel Core i5-2390T CPU @ 2.70GHz, 16GB of RAM, a 932GB Toshiba HDD, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU. I'd love any tips or insights on what could be going wrong, or if there's more info you need from me! Thanks!

That loud fan noise indicates your GPU is getting hot. You might want to keep tabs on the temperature with software like HWInfo64. If it’s too hot, consider repasting your GPU, which can help with heat dissipation. There are tons of tutorials online if you're up for it.
Your CPU is pretty old, which can be a bigger issue than your GPU. An i5-2390T is around 13 years old, while your RTX 3070 is fairly recent. It could be holding back performance. Also, are you using a hard drive? Modern games often run into issues on HDDs, so switching to an SSD could help a lot. Don’t overlook the power supply either—if it’s old too, that might be a factor.
First off, definitely switch to an SSD if you haven’t already. Your current setup is fine for games released before 2015 but struggles with anything newer. The performance gap is noticeable, and an SSD will make a huge difference in loading times and overall speed.
What exactly makes it better for older games? Is it solely because of the CPU?

Should I focus on upgrading the CPU first? I didn't think it was causing problems for me.
