Why is my external USB DVD player stuttering on my Windows PC but works fine on my Linux laptop?

I recently bought a USB external DVD player and connected it to my desktop PC, but I'm having a frustrating issue. Whenever I try to play commercial DVDs, I experience constant stuttering, pauses, and visual issues. The DVDs are in perfect condition and I've tested them on various media players like VLC, Pot Player, and AnyDVD, but nothing seems to fix the problem. Interestingly, I also tested the DVD player on my older laptop running Linux Mint, and it plays the same DVDs flawlessly, despite my laptop having lower specifications. The only major differences I can think of are the connections—my laptop connects the player via a USB to USB-C adapter, while my PC only has USB 3.0 ports. I'm curious if anyone has thoughts on what could be causing this issue or how to resolve it?

Have you tried switching the USB-C adapter around? Sometimes, different ports or 'pins' can affect the connection. It’s a common issue with some USB-C devices to behave differently depending on how they’re connected.

I did try that! But it seems like the problem is mostly with the desktop. The DVDs work perfectly fine when the player is connected to the laptop.
