Is This a Good Time to Build a PC or Should I Wait?

I've been getting into building PCs lately, but I've heard that RAM prices have skyrocketed recently. I'm wondering whether I should wait to see if prices drop in the coming months, or if they are just likely to keep going up. What's the general consensus on whether now is a good time to build a PC, especially considering current prices?

Honestly, now is a bad time to build, and it seems like it's only going to get worse. RAM prices have gone up a lot, and there's no sign of them coming back down soon. I'd say if you don't need a PC right away, waiting might be your best bet.

But what if the prices stay high for a long time? Shouldn't we just buy now to avoid missing out?

I think it all depends on your current setup. If yours is still running fine, you can definitely wait a bit.

I’ve heard the AI boom is causing all these price hikes, and until that settles down, we might continue seeing higher prices. So if you can hold off, you might want to wait a while longer to see if things improve.

That makes sense, but how long are we talking about? We're already seeing weird price spikes everywhere.

In my opinion, if you're in no hurry, it's better to wait a year or two. Prices will likely normalize, but may never return to those pre-2023 levels. Just keep an eye out for sales!

If you absolutely need a new PC now, just bite the bullet and get it. RAM and SSD prices are high, but you might find good deals on used parts or pre-builts that could save you some cash.

Yeah, pre-builts can be a smart move right now! After all, buying used can sometimes yield better value.
