Is it worth buying a SATA EVO 870 for extra storage?

I recently upgraded from a Kingston NV2 1TB to a 2TB EVO Plus 990, which is now my boot drive since my old SATA SSD failed. I'm considering getting a SATA EVO 870 as additional storage because I worry about prices going up. With the current prices at $117 for 1TB and $190 for 2TB, I'm wondering if this is the best deal we'll see soon, or if I should hold out for better sales in the future. Alternatively, should I think about upgrading my motherboard, as my MSI A320M-A PRO MAX AM4 is getting quite old?

If you really need the extra storage, then go for it! A SATA SSD, like the EVO 870, is still significantly faster than any mechanical HDD, so it's a solid choice if you need space.

Wait, hold on—just to clarify, a SATA HDD is indeed a mechanical HDD. A SATA SSD will be faster, and it’s definitely speedier than an NVMe SSD too!
