Hey everyone! I'm having a tough time with my setup, specifically when playing Battlefield 6. My RTX 3080's fans go into overdrive, sounding like a jet during gameplay at moderate settings (1440p), and they spike over 100% fan speed every half-minute, which is incredibly distracting. I usually prevent this by undervolting through MSI Afterburner to keep the fans quiet and temperatures in check, but when I do, the system crashes shortly after starting a game. I'd love advice! Is there a better fan curve or solution to prevent these crashes while keeping the noise down? All my drivers are updated. My setup is a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 3080 FE, B550 TOMAHAWK motherboard, and 64GB Corsair DDR4 RAM.

Honestly, there might not be a perfect solution for this. It's been a common problem with the 3080 cards since they were released. I've experienced similar issues with my 3080 as well, so you're not alone in this. Just keep an eye out for updates and fixes from Nvidia.
You might want to try disabling the undervolt and testing it without that adjustment. If it doesn't crash, it could be that your undervolt is too aggressive. Generally, a voltage below 850mV at over 2100MHz can lead to instability. My own 3080Ti needs at least 1.1V to maintain those higher speeds. Sometimes, it's just not worth the hassle to undervolt or overclock for minimal performance gains—stock settings can save a lot of frustration!
Thanks for the advice! I’m not really aiming for performance gains; I just want to manage the heat and noise better since I can’t stand the jet engine sounds. Even at stock settings, I raise the curve but end up crashing, which is frustrating. It's tough for me to grasp all this voltage and power stuff, but I'm trying to learn!

That’s rough! The 3080 is great when it works, but I hear you on the upgrade prospects. Everything else out there seems less appealing for the price.
