How to Optimize My High-End PC for Best Performance?

I'm working with a pretty high-end PC setup and I'm experiencing some frustrating micro-stutters and input delays, despite having good thermal readings and benchmarks. I'm looking for some basic guidance on optimizations, as I'm still fairly new to PC building and overclocking. I handle a mix of productivity tasks like music production and 3D modeling, along with gaming, so I really want to maximize performance across the board.

Here are my specs:
- **CPU:** Ryzen 9 9950X3D
- **Motherboard:** Asus Rog Strix X870E-E Gaming WiFi
- **Cooler:** Lian Li GA II LCD 360mm
- **RAM:** G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5-6000
- **GPU:** Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080
- **PSU:** be quiet! Straight Power 12 1200W
- **Case:** Hyte Y70 Touch with 360mm AIO and multiple fans

My bench results are decent, but I still feel like something's off. I have specific questions about my set-up:

- Is using an autounattend.xml file from GitHub a good idea? Should I create my own?
- I've stored my OS on an M2 slot that has a Gen 4 SSD. Does the performance change if my games are on a Gen 5 SSD?
- Are there differing benefits between power plans (like ultimate vs balanced)?
- What should I know about BIOS settings for this setup?
- Does DLSS4 help or hurt performance?
- Are common registry edits beneficial or problematic?
- Should I disable memory integrity and core isolation? Is it safe?
- Is Windows Defender sufficient as an antivirus?
- Is there a difference in performance between Windows 11 Pro and Home?
- Should I consider switching to Linux, despite potential compatibility issues with my software?

You might want to try lowering your RAM speed to 5200 MT/s to see if that helps reduce stutters. High-speed RAM like what you have can sometimes be finicky, especially with 32GB sticks. Lowering the speed might stabilize things, and you probably won't notice any significant performance impact by doing so.

Interesting! I thought more RAM would always be better. Maybe I should consider switching to 2x16GB instead?

Your build looks solid, and your performance issues could stem from your SSD firmware. If you haven't updated the firmware for your Samsung 990 Pro, you should definitely check that. Old firmware can cause instability and performance dips, possibly leading to those micro-stutters you're experiencing. Try removing the SSD for a while and see if the stutters stop.

Good point! I didn't even think of the firmware when I installed the 990.
