Is it better to build a PC now or wait until later?

I'm looking to build a PC around July or August 2026 since I'll be moving into a new apartment, and I don't want to set it up here just to take it down again. Right now, my college schedule leaves me with little time for gaming anyway. I was thinking about going with a DDR4 system because it's more affordable, given how high RAM prices are. Should I go ahead and build it now, or is it safe to wait until my move in mid-2026? I've heard rumors that GPU prices might start rising soon and that RAM prices won't drop significantly in the near future.

If you ask me, I'd build it now if you can. Prices are unpredictable, and waiting could mean higher costs in the future. Plus, you'll have it ready once you move!

Yeah, if you see a good price, go for it! It's hard to know how prices will shift, so better to lock in a good deal when you find one.

Honestly, the best time might have been back in late 2023. But if you're set on waiting, just keep an eye on the market. Some say RAM prices could drop by August 2026, but it's hard to make solid predictions. You could miss out on good deals if you wait.

Totally agree! Best approach is to be ready with a list of parts you want. Set alerts for price drops on sites, and check used options too if you're okay with second-hand.

Exactly! I found my PSU at a great discount. It's all about being proactive and ready to hit the buy button when you see a good deal.

Waiting might not be a bad idea if you’re not using it until you move. But also consider that sometimes prices will drop unexpectedly, so maybe look into what parts are deeply discounted right now.

True. I got a killer deal on RAM recently, but it's all about acting fast!

I think the longer you wait, the harder it could be to get what you want at the price you want. Just set a budget and check the market regularly.

Prices are really hard to predict. With everything changing in the tech world, it might be wise to snag parts as you find them. Just keep in mind the warranty clocks ticking once you build it, so if you wait, make sure to think about that.

Great point! Building early means losing part of the warranty, but if you find good deals, it might be worth it.

It's a real gamble! But if you can manage with second-hand parts now, that could save you a lot.
