What files can I safely delete from my new SSD to make room for games?

I cloned my old 256GB SSD to a new 1TB SSD, and while it works, I'm trying to optimize space on the new drive for games. My E drive (the new SSD) is showing about 155GB of used space, similar to my old C drive. What are the minimum essential folders or files I really need on the E drive, and can I delete everything else? Also, since I only want Steam on the E drive, should I uninstall it from the C drive, and do I need to change any settings in the Steam app?

You might not need to keep the cloned files on your new SSD if you’re not booting from it. If you have the option, formatting the E drive would be the best way to start fresh and avoid confusion. As for Steam, you can have it installed on one drive and set up additional library folders on the E drive, which is pretty straightforward in the app's settings.

If your E drive is just a backup of your C drive, you can safely delete unnecessary files. Just keep your personal files and maybe some app data if you need settings saved. It’s usually best to format the E drive to clear everything if you don't mind starting over.

Don't worry, everyone makes mistakes! Cloning can be tricky. If you want to use your new SSD purely for gaming, it’s best to wipe it and create a dedicated Steam folder. Make sure your old drive is still bootable just in case you want to retrieve files.
