How do I connect an old 48-pin IDE drive to my laptop?

I found an old Quantum Bigfoot TX 5.25 series drive that I want to connect to my laptop to check for any valuable archives. The challenge is that it has a 48-pin connector, and I haven't been able to find any adapters for 48-pin IDE to USB or SATA, nor any standard 40-pin IDE connectors. I'm also thinking about getting a multi-adapter to work with other older drives I have, but none seems compatible with this one. Can anyone help me figure out how to connect this drive?

I've never come across a 48-pin IDE connector myself. It might actually be proprietary. Usually, IDE connectors are either 40 or 44 pins. You might want to double-check if that's the case! I found an image that shows the 46 pins plus 2 additional ones, giving it the 48-pin count. Those big ones at the end must be for power, right?

Are you sure it’s a 40-pin connector with 8 extra jumper pins next to it? That might be the case here!

That’s a good point! I’ll check it out.
