What GPU Should I Upgrade to from a 2080 Ti?

I've been using an Nvidia 2080 Ti since it launched, and now I'm considering an upgrade. My current setup includes an AMD Ryzen 9 3900 XT, 64GB of RAM, and I do a mix of photography, video editing, and gaming on a 32-inch 4K BenQ monitor. I'm curious about which GPU would be a good replacement that will last me as long as this one has. I was thinking about the 5090, but a friend mentioned it's overkill. What are your thoughts? Also, if you take the time to reply, thank you and have a great Christmas!

It really depends on what kind of gaming you're looking to do. If you want something that can handle demanding 4K games and future-proof your setup, the 5090 could be a solid choice if your budget allows it. However, for photo and video editing, a 3090 would give you plenty of VRAM. Just think about the kind of performance you want before making your decision.

Honestly, with the upgrades you’ve mentioned, you might want to consider the 9070 or 5070, which offer great performance without breaking the bank. Nvidia's GPUs have advantages with CUDA support, while AMD cards can be cheaper and perform just as well in many cases.

I just went through a similar upgrade. I had an 8600K and a 2080 Super, but I recently built a new rig with a 9800X3D and a 5090. I expect it to last me a while since I'm hoping to play games on it for a decent framerate. It’s definitely a personal choice about how much you're willing to invest in your gaming experience.

I'd recommend against going for the 5080, as the performance gain isn’t worth the cost. If you can find a decent deal on a 5950XT, that would be a great upgrade option too. Just make sure to match it with a GPU that fits your gaming style and needs.
