A few days back, I had a weird experience with my smart TV that's got me worried about security. While I was gaming on my PS5, the TV unexpectedly rebooted, which I initially brushed off. But then, a random blank screen popped up for a moment, and I swear I saw a Chrome tab on the taskbar before it went black again. I asked my dad if he connected his PC to it, but he said no, and his desktop didn't look anything like the one I briefly saw.
Later, while watching YouTube on my Firestick, the same thing happened: the TV rebooted again. I started panicking, trying to reset the TV settings to do a factory reset, but it turned off before I could. This made me really suspicious, so I unplugged the internet and reset everything—my router, WiFi password, and even factory reset my phone and my dad's.
I haven't connected the TV to WiFi since, just using the Firestick. But now we're super paranoid that our WiFi might be compromised. Ever since resetting the router, our connection keeps dropping out intermittently for a minute or less, which is really frustrating. I'm not very tech-savvy and just want to know if there's any chance that we were hacked and what I can do to fix this situation without losing WiFi entirely.

Honestly, what you’re describing sounds more like a family member accidentally connecting their device than a real hack. It happens! Often people hit 'cast to TV' and connect their devices without even realizing. I’d suggest checking if anyone might have done that first before worrying about actual security breaches.
In your case, it’s definitely a good idea to enhance your network security just to be safe. Use a really strong password, something like 'Aahh09@+!%$' with special characters and numbers. Regularly updating your router’s firmware can also help protect against vulnerabilities. Keep an eye on your router’s device list to make sure you recognize all the connected devices.
It sounds like you could be overthinking this a bit. Random hacks on home devices like TVs aren’t super common unless they’re targeted. Those disconnects you’re experiencing might just be normal WiFi issues, not necessarily a sign of being hacked. I’d recommend stiffening your security by ensuring you’ve got a strong WiFi password and disabling WPS on your router.

Even after turning off WPS and changing the password the connection still keeps going down. What else can I try?
