Is Upgrading to AM5 Worth It Instead of Sticking with AM4?

I'm considering upgrading my current PC setup a bit, which includes an Intel i5 8600k and an AMD 5700xt with 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM. Prices for RAM are really discouraging for a full PC replacement. I found a Ryzen 5 5600, another 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a GIGABYTE B550M AORUS ELITE motherboard for under $400. Meanwhile, 32GB of DDR5 RAM costs around $460 alone. Some folks suggest avoiding AM4 for new builds because it's not 'future-proof,' but I'm wondering if going for AM5 is really necessary in my situation or if AM4 would be sufficient?

Honestly, I wouldn't upgrade from a 8600 right now. The price-to-performance ratio just isn't there, unless your current performance is really lacking. Also, I've put together several solid AM4 builds that still hold up well. Plus, if you're looking at the 5600, I'd recommend getting the 5600X if the price difference isn't too steep.
