I'm a final-year computer science student from India and I'm really interested in entering the DevOps field. I'm aware it's competitive and often requires experience, so I'm seeking realistic advice. Here's what I've been learning so far: Linux fundamentals, Git, Docker, Jenkins, and some basics of AWS (like EC2 and S3). I would love insights from professionals on a few things: 1) Is it feasible to break into DevOps as a fresh graduate today? 2) What skills or entry-level positions can help me transition into DevOps? 3) Are there any common mistakes I should be careful to avoid? Thanks for any guidance!

It's definitely challenging for freshers today to step into DevOps. Companies often look for candidates who can already provide insights on a dev team's setup, which requires some hands-on experience in systems or development. My path was through being a developer first, where I started automating tasks, eventually leading to DevOps roles. For skills, in addition to what you're learning, it's vital to get practical experience rather than relying solely on certifications. Understanding common developer issues and knowing how to apply the right tools is key.

I totally agree! Hands-on skills are crucial. Just learning from books won't cut it.
