Why do my keyboard keys stop working when I press Left Shift?

I'm having a strange issue with my laptop keyboard. It seems that all the keys function perfectly fine, but as soon as I press the Left Shift key, the left side of the keyboard is unresponsive. This means I can't type capital letters for 'A', 'Q', 'Z', or an exclamation mark. Interestingly, the Right Shift key works well, but for some reason, it doesn't capitalize 'Z'. This problem only occurs with the Left Shift. I've already tried using Microsoft PowerToys to remap Caps Lock to Shift, but that didn't help either. I've even reset my laptop and the issue persists. I would love to find a solution since I'm currently relying on the Caps Lock key and an on-screen keyboard.

You might want to check your keyboard layout in Windows to make sure it matches your physical keyboard. I've had similar issues where the layout unexpectedly switched from QWERTY UK to US, and that could cause keys to act oddly.

That doesn't seem to be the issue for me. I'm using English (United States). How do I check what keyboard layout I have? I'm not very tech-savvy, sorry!
