Should I Keep All 64GB of RAM or Sell Some?

Hey everyone! A few months back, I bought a used PC build that came with 64GB of RAM: 2x16GB of CMK32GX5M2B5200C40 and 2x16GB of CMK32GX5M2B6400C32. I'm a bit confused about the mix of RAM since the voltages are different, but it seems like the motherboard handles it fine. I'm considering selling the 2xCMK32GX5M2B5200C40 since having all four slots filled appears to limit my RAM speed to 3600 MT/s. I've been out of the PC building scene for a while, so I'm curious if selling 32GB and just using 2 sticks is a wise move. For context, my build includes a B650-E motherboard, a Ryzen 7 8700G CPU, and a 9070XT GPU, and I usually game at 1440p. Thanks!

If you don't need the full 64GB of RAM, keeping just two sticks will let you run your remaining RAM at faster speeds. I'd recommend holding onto the 6400MHz CL32 kit, as RAM prices are decent right now, and you could get a nice return if you sell.

Thanks for the input! I was worried that going down to 32GB might affect gaming performance. I mostly play titles like Cyberpunk and BF6 right now, and they seem fine.

If you can easily manage with 32GB, I'd say sell the extra 32GB now while prices are good. You could save that cash for potential future upgrades!

Are you sure you can only run at 3600 MT/s with all four sticks? That seems slow! With AM5, I’d expect at least 5000 MT/s capacity. If you ever find yourself using more than 32GB, it might be smarter to keep the 64GB.

Yeah, it's limited by the CPU with all slots populated. I think the max without overclocking hovers around 5200.

I'd hold off selling until RAM prices peak. If they drop, you might regret letting go of your sticks too early. But if you do decide to sell now, let me know! 😏😂

Agreed! You might kick yourself in a few months if you let it go for less.
