Which graphics card should I choose for 1440p gaming: RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or RX 9070?

I recently returned a defective graphics card, the Palit Infinity 3 RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, and now I'm on the hunt for a new one. I'm considering an RTX 5070, but it's not compatible with my current power supply, and I can't stretch my budget for a new one right now. In my country, prices are as follows: RTX 5070 for €550, RX 9070 for €565, and the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, which used to cost me €440, is now priced at €470. I aim to play games in 1440p with ultra settings and ray tracing, looking for the best visual quality possible, with a frame rate above 40. Is the RX 9070 worth the extra spending, or should I go with the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB despite its price hike? Also, I'm curious if AMD and Nvidia ray tracing visuals are on par with each other—I'm looking for honest, objective opinions without brand bias. Which card will deliver the best image quality?

In terms of ray tracing visuals, both AMD and Nvidia deliver solid results, but Nvidia generally shines brighter when it comes to more advanced RT features. That said, if you’re seriously focusing on ultra settings at 1440p, the RX 9070 is where the real performance will be! It can handle everything at a smoother frame rate above 40 fps, whereas the other two cards may struggle at times. It's totally worth the investment if you can afford it!

Honestly, the RX 9070 is a beast compared to the 5060 Ti, especially for 1440p gaming. If you want great visuals and to really enjoy ray tracing, go for it if you can manage the budget. If you're really tight on funds, the RX 9060 XT 16GB could offer similar performance for a lower price, but you'll have to compromise a bit on the ray tracing capability. It's worth considering if saving cash is a priority!

That's a good point! The 9070 will definitely give the best performance for ray tracing, but if you're looking to save, the 9060 XT might be the smarter pick.

Both the RX 9060 XT and 5060 Ti can reach 40fps at 1440p with ray tracing, but not consistently. You'll likely need to tweak some settings or use upscaling. The 9070, on the other hand, will keep ultra settings and ray tracing running above that mark without too much trouble. I’d personally recommend saving up for the 9070 if you want smoother gameplay!
