I'm in the middle of a gradual upgrade for my PC. I recently bought a Corsair RM850x PSU for $90 during Black Friday. Now, I'm thinking about upgrading to a 5080 GPU and I'm wondering if I should just go for a 1000W PSU to future-proof my setup. It's been a while since I've upgraded anything; my last GPU was a 1060 from 2017, so I know I need to make some serious changes.

If you're looking to future-proof, consider a 1000W PSU. They're pretty affordable right now, especially if you can find one with a free return option. Better safe than sorry!
For just a $40 or $50 difference, why not go for the 1000W? PCs are consuming more power all the time. Plus, with rumors that the next GPU generations will have higher TDPs, it's better to be prepared. Happy New Year!
You might as well grab a 1000W if you can. I switched from a 750W to a Corsair RM1000x recently, and even with a 5070 card, it feels like overkill. It's nice knowing I have room to upgrade in the future!
An 850W PSU should be fine for the 5080. It's a solid choice, so I'd suggest sticking with it for now. You can always upgrade later if it becomes necessary.

It's always a good idea to keep a buffer of at least 20% of your PSU's capacity, especially under max load. Just something to think about!
Totally agree! If it's not installed yet, though, switching to 1000W might be smart. Otherwise, stick with the 850.
