I've been using my Ethernet cable with my PC for a few years without issues, but recently it stopped working. My PC lost internet, and I noticed it's now connecting via Wi-Fi instead of Ethernet. When I checked, the Ethernet port on my PC is showing an orange light, while the router connection remains green. I've already unplugged and replugged both ends of the cable, but that hasn't helped. I have a feeling the problem is with my PC and not the cable or router. What steps can I take to resolve this?

The color of the Ethernet ports can indicate speed; orange usually means it's negotiating at a lower speed than green (100Mbps vs. 1000Mbps). I recommend reinstalling your Ethernet adapter's driver. You can also try disabling it in the device manager and then re-enabling it. If you have another cable available, that might help too.
Have you thought about testing your cable? The setup could be a bit tricky since your PC isn’t near the router, but it might be worthwhile to plug it into a laptop just to see if it works there. If you're worried it could be a cable issue, that's something you should check out.
