I've been facing an issue with my internet speed. I have a plan for 500Mbps, but my computer seems to be stuck at 100Mbps. I've tried a few things to resolve this:
1. I updated my drivers, which temporarily fixed the issue for about 24 hours before it reverted back to 100Mbps.
2. I changed the speed settings in Device Manager from Automatic to the maximum speed. This only worked for around 20 minutes before it returned to 100Mbps, even though the setting still shows the maximum speed.
Unfortunately, I can't check my router settings because I need the owner's email and password to access it. I suspect it might not be a cable issue since I did hit speeds above 100Mbps before. It seems like a software problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, I definitely suspect your cable is the main culprit here. If it was working above 100Mbps before, there might be a fault in the cable now.
It sounds like a possible issue with the cable you’re using. Sometimes, even if it seems fine, a bad cable can limit you to 100Mbps. You might want to try swapping it out for another one just to rule that out.
Have you double-checked how you're measuring your speed? Remember, just because you're on a 500Mbps plan doesn't mean you’ll always get that speed. Also, ensure that your network adapter is rated for high speeds—those ratings can vary a lot!
Changing the cable could help. Sometimes it’s an easy fix that people overlook!

That could be the cause! I guess I should consider getting a different cable.
