Should I install my CPU on the motherboard now or leave it in the box while I wait for RAM?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to store my CPU while I save up for RAM. Is it safer to just leave it in its manufacturer box, or should I go ahead and install it on the motherboard? I'm really concerned about avoiding any bent pins.

Short answer: No real difference. Long answer: It won't hurt to leave it in the box. If your motherboard is secured and the socket cover is on, you should be just fine.

If you want a little thrill, go ahead and install it on the motherboard, then store the motherboard safely. Just remember, the CPU box is built to protect it, so you’re good either way!

It’s safer to keep the CPU in its box for now. The box is specifically designed to protect it, just like how you'd store a knife safely in a drawer. Unless you’re tossing it around, it shouldn't get bent just sitting there. But if you do want to get excited about your build, putting it on the motherboard is fine as long as you're careful with it.

Honestly, either way works! Just be cautious. If something crazy happens like dropping the mobo box and it ends up getting trampled, you’d risk damage to both the CPU and motherboard. But if everything’s snug and safe, you’re golden!

Just leave it in the box like stores do. It’s meant to keep it safe, so you don’t have to worry.
