How Can I Fix My Daughter’s Chromebook Wi-Fi Issues?

I'm really not tech-savvy at all, and I need some help with my daughter's Galaxy Chromebook Go. For Christmas, I helped her log into her Gmail, and that was about it since she said she knew how to use it from school. But after a while, the Wi-Fi turned off and whenever I try turning it back on, it just switches off again. I tried factory resetting it because a friend suggested it, but now it's worse! It's not logged in anymore, and I'm stuck on a 'Get Started' screen with no way to access any settings. I can't connect to Wi-Fi manually either, and I'm worried I broke the laptop entirely or if it's something that can be fixed. She used it fine before this happened, so I hope someone can point me in the right direction or give me some advice on how to get it working again.

Just a heads up, doing a factory reset is like starting fresh, so everything before that reset is gone. If you set it up at a store, you might want to go back and ask for help. You can also check out YouTube for tutorials on setting up a new Chromebook; that might give you some visual guidance.

Yeah, I thought so too, but the Wi-Fi isn't displaying like before. When I first set it up, it showed all the networks clearly. Now, I can't seem to connect, and I feel like there might be something else wrong.

From my experience, this issue could be due to either a software-related airplane mode or a physical issue. Have you been able to look for settings? If you can't open anything without being logged in, that complicates things!

I can’t see any physical button for that, and without access to settings, I'm stuck. This is so frustrating!

Have you checked if there's a hardware switch for the Wi-Fi? Sometimes there are physical buttons to toggle it on and off. It might just need a little nudge if it’s turned off accidentally!

From what I saw, there shouldn't be any such button on this model. It just seems to switch back off when you try to enable it.

You might want to consider getting a USB Ethernet adapter. If you connect the Chromebook directly to your router, you can get internet access to log in, and from there you can troubleshoot the Wi-Fi issues more effectively.

I found a video where a technician had to remove the back panel to fix Wi-Fi issues. It's worth watching, but be careful if you decide to try it yourself, as it could void the warranty. I would suggest taking it to a repair shop. They should be able to fix it or replace it if necessary!
