I recently got my hands on a Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSD, but I noticed that it didn't come with the cable or adapter I expected. I'm unsure what the actual name of these components is and where I might be able to find them. Any guidance on how to connect the SSD to my motherboard would be appreciated!

This SSD is an NVMe type, meaning it fits into an NVMe slot on your motherboard. Typically, they don't include additional hardware. If you're out of slots, you might need a PCIe NVMe adapter, but make sure you have a free PCIe slot for that!

Thanks for the info! I've got a free slot, so I might look into that just in case.

Yep, that's an NVMe SSD connecting through a specific PCIe slot. All you’ll really need is an M.2 screw, assuming your motherboard supports NVMe. Super easy to set up!

You actually don’t need any box or adapter for the 990 EVO Plus. It slots right into the M.2 port on your motherboard. Just make sure to use the M.2 screws that came with your motherboard to secure it.

Just curious, which motherboard are you using? That might help narrow down your options a bit!

The 990 EVO Plus is designed to be connected directly to an M.2 slot on your motherboard, so you won’t need any extra hardware like cables or adapters. Just check if your motherboard has an M.2 slot available and go for it!
