I've been upgrading my PC for the past year, and I'm facing a persistent issue where my download speeds are really slow, whether I'm using Steam or just browsing. I've tested my internet speed and it shows around 950 Mbps, which is great, but when I try to download something, it significantly impacts my PC's performance. A 30-gig file can take me up to 5 hours to download, which is frustrating. I've tried almost all the tricks I found online to increase download speed, but nothing seems to help. I'm wondering if Windows could be the issue or if switching to Linux might be a solution.

Are you installing games on an SSD? If your hard drive is older or slower, it might be affecting download performance too. Sometimes bad HDDs can cause issues like this, especially if they’re nearing the end of their lifespan.
Could you share your PC specs? I've seen people with similar problems thinking their setups are decent, but they had older components. I’d love to help troubleshoot if I know what you’re working with!
Just a heads up, your download speeds are still limited by the server’s connection speed. If a lot of people are downloading the same file on Steam, that could definitely slow things down for you too.
One thing you can try is clearing the download cache in whichever application you’re using. Sometimes, that can really help improve download speeds!
If you're on Windows 11, I can relate! It can be a bit of a pain sometimes. Also, make sure you're using a decent SSD—cheap ones often taper off in speed once their cache is full, and then they can end up running at speeds similar to a basic USB flash drive.

Sure! I have an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, B450M Pro 4 R 2.0 motherboard, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, an AMD Radeon RX 6600 GPU, and a WD Green 1TB SSD.
