Hey folks,
I've been running a big simulation and had it crash a couple of times due to memory overload. After some tweaking, I managed to stabilize it. However, after updating my Fedora Linux the other night, I started encountering kernel panics the next day. I tried booting from a live USB, but that also failed with cryptography and ELF errors. I initially thought it was just a Linux issue, but I noticed strange things happening on my Windows install too, like videos showing a green hue with line artifacts and breakpoint errors in both Chrome and Edge. Java errors keep popping up as well.
Surprisingly, games and CFD software have been running fine. I did run FurMark and MemTest, and they both came back successful. I also used an Intel test which passed the Integrated Memory Controller, but failed the floating point test. Still, running CFD calculations showed no problems on my end. I'm at a loss here – could my CPU be on its way out? I've already reset the BIOS and cleared the CMOS, keeping everything at default values. If you have any thoughts, I'm all ears!
P.S. I have some screenshots from FurMark, MemTest, and the Linux kernel if you need to see them!

I would suspect there’s an underlying hardware issue, especially since you're seeing problems across different OS. Since you've been through quite a bit with tests, it might be worth checking the power supply or even other components. Have you tried testing with a different PSU or reseating your CPU and RAM? Sometimes little things can create big problems.
It sounds like you’re having quite a ride! Based on your description, it could be that your CPU is struggling a bit, especially with that floating point test failing. However, since some tests are still passing and you mentioned games and CFD work fine, it's not necessarily toast just yet. Have you tried checking your cooling solutions? Overheating can sometimes cause weird artifacts and errors like what you're experiencing.
Good point! Also, make sure your drivers are up to date, especially the graphics ones. Sometimes that can cause display issues too. Good luck!

Yeah, I had a similar issue once. Re-seating the CPU and RAM did the trick for me! Definitely worth a shot!
