I've just purchased a new MSI MAG 274CXF 27" FHD 280Hz Curved Gaming Monitor, which has a DisplayPort and two HDMI ports. The monitor comes with a DP1.4 cable, but my laptop, a Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 4050 series, doesn't have a DisplayPort outlet. It only has an HDMI port. I'm looking for advice on how to connect my laptop to the monitor, especially since I want to make the most of the monitor's features.

Your laptop can connect via its HDMI port or through a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter. The performance really depends on your specific laptop's HDMI and DP versions. Sometimes one is better than the other, but it depends on multiple factors.
You'll want to get an HDMI cable to connect your laptop to the monitor. Most laptops, including yours, typically won't have a DisplayPort.
Do you have any specific HDMI cable recommendations? Will it support 280Hz?
Using HDMI is your best bet, and you should be able to achieve around 120 or 144 fps.

I checked the manual for your monitor and it states that the HDMI input maxes out at 240Hz, while the DisplayPort goes up to 280Hz. Your laptop's output capabilities will also influence what you can achieve.
