I'm new to using Arch Linux and I'm curious about antivirus software. I used Norton on Windows, but it's not available for Linux. My question is, do I even need antivirus or anti-malware software on Linux? If so, which ones would you recommend?

While many say antivirus isn't needed on Linux, that’s not entirely true. Linux can be vulnerable to malware too. Keeping your system updated and regularly backing up your data are essential. If you're still worried, you might look into tools like rkhunter or chkrootkit for extra security.

You don’t really need antivirus on Linux. Viruses are rare these days. If you're really concerned, Windows Defender or ClamAV could be sufficient for occasional use. But overall, just staying cautious with what you install and execute is key.

Generally, you don't need antivirus on Linux like you would on Windows. If you're sticking to the official repositories and using a good adblocker, you should be pretty safe. But if you're planning to frequently use the AUR (Arch User Repository), it might be wise to have something like ClamAV just in case. Remember, most Linux malware comes from user error, like running scripts without knowing what they do.

Honestly, antivirus isn't necessary. Just practice safety with your downloading habits, and that should keep you safe. Only install from trusted sources!
