Is it possible to change the OS on my Honor 400 Lite phone?

I just got a new Honor 400 Lite that runs MagicOS v9.0 (Android 15). Coming from Samsung, I'm having trouble adjusting to MagicOS and am curious about whether I can switch to a different operating system, ideally One UI, to regain some familiarity. My last phone had One UI v6.1 (Android 14). Can I get a compatible version of One UI for my current phone? If changing the OS is possible, what challenges should I prepare for? Are there any risks, like incompatibility issues that might affect my phone's performance? I'd appreciate any advice, especially since English isn't my first language.

Since the bootloader on your Honor phone is locked, it’s not straightforward to install custom ROMs. It's often less trouble to adapt to the new OS or consider switching back to Samsung if you're really dissatisfied.

One UI is exclusive to Samsung devices, so to get that experience, you’d likely need a Samsung phone. However, if your Honor phone can be rooted, there might be community-created ROMs available. But keep in mind that development has slowed down a lot in recent years. It may be worth considering other options instead of a complete OS change.

There are some custom ROMs available that might work, but expect issues like banking apps not functioning properly or having to deal with the risk of running community-supported software. A simpler option might be to just download a good launcher to customize your interface without changing the OS.

It's generally better to stick with the manufacturer’s OS for security and updates. You might find ways to customize the current setup to suit your needs without a lot of hassle.

Instead of attempting to change the OS, consider using a launcher like Nova Launcher to make your interface more comfortable. It’s usually a lot easier and you can tweak the look and feel without messing with the underlying system.
