Advice Needed for Choosing a Future-Proof PC Build

I'm planning to buy a PC in the next week but I'm a bit stuck on what to get. I'm not looking for specific parts just yet, but I'm interested in a general idea of what's best to ensure the system will last for several years. I typically play indie games, but I do enjoy some AAA titles like Battlefield 6 every now and then. My goal is to run modern games smoothly, ideally aiming for 60fps at low settings for the long term, rather than just for the next couple of years. I want to be able to play BF6 at 1080p and 144fps with medium to high graphics settings. Right now, I'm considering the 5070 or 5070 Ti with 16GB of VRAM and 32GB of DDR5 RAM, but I'm still deciding on a CPU. I know this is probably overkill, but I'd prefer a setup that lasts until it's no longer capable of running modern games at 60fps. My budget is around $1800, and I'm open to either building my own PC or selecting a reliable pre-built option. I'm looking for some recommendations and second opinions on this.

If I were building a PC right now, I'd recommend going for a 9800X3D. It's a solid choice for future-proofing! Just keep in mind, it might push your budget closer to $2000 though. Not easy to find pre-builts at lower prices with that setup.

I hear you, but if you're trying to stay under budget, I think you might struggle with that build. There are some good options out there, but it could be a challenge.

You're right that no build can be fully future-proof, but focus on getting the best performance for your budget. Also, BF6 isn't as CPU-heavy as everyone says! Check out this PCPartPicker list I made; it's a great starting point.

Thanks for the link! I've had a 2060 Super that has served me well, so I agree that future-proofing can be done if you make smart choices without focusing too much on having top-tier graphics.
