I'm on the hunt for an affordable replacement for my son's computer. He's been playing games like Roblox and Fortnite, but his current setup can't handle Fortnite anymore. I found a potential option: the HP EliteDesk 800 G3, which comes with an i5-7600 quad-core processor, 12GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, a 1TB HDD, and a GT-1060 2GB GPU. It's in my budget, but I'm unsure about the GPU's performance and whether this machine is a business model. Can it be upgraded? Should I keep looking or is this a worthwhile purchase?

Honestly, it might be smarter to invest in something like an Xbox Series S, which outperforms what this PC can deliver. It's an excellent alternative for gaming, and it'll last much longer.
I'd suggest you keep looking. The GT 1060 2GB isn't a real thing, so it’s probably a mistake. You'll find that while this setup can run Fortnite and Roblox, it won't do so very well, especially for newer games. If you're aiming for anything more demanding, this machine might be too limiting.
What do you think would be a more suitable GPU?
This machine is pretty old, and you'll likely regret sticking with it. The CPU might even struggle with Windows 11 support. Look for something newer that can handle gaming better.
If you’re after a better gaming experience, you might need to factor in a budget of around $600 USD for a decent setup that can run Fortnite smoothly for a couple of years. Check out some builds on YouTube for guidance!
What’s your budget? If you can spend around $300, that could open up some better options. The HP is decent but pretty outdated. For that price, I'd suggest looking at a system with at least a GTX 1050 Ti or higher for smoother gaming.
It's $240 CDN, and I was hoping to stay under $300. I've got some extra components lying around that could help.

We actually have an Xbox Series S for my older son, but the younger one really wants his own PC.
