Hey everyone, I recently purchased a prebuilt computer from Costco, and I'm considering upgrading the SSD. Before I physically disconnect and replace it, are there any important steps or precautions I should take into account?

If the SSD you're replacing is used for the operating system, I would recommend cloning it using software like Macrium Reflect. This way, you can easily swap it and set it as the boot drive in the BIOS—it’s the easiest approach!
If your computer is relatively new and has an M.2 drive, you might have the option to add another SSD in a spare slot if available, without needing to remove the old one.
