Am I taking too long to learn programming concepts?

I've been watching a programming tutorial for about an hour now, but I only really understood the first 10 minutes. I ended up getting stuck, had to repeat the video a couple of times, and even asked for help from AI, but I felt like I was wasting time. Is it normal to spend so much time on a single concept? Am I just a slow learner? I really want to know about others' experiences and whether taking time to clear up doubts is okay.

Absolutely! Welcome to the world of programming, where getting humbled by small things like typos is just part of the journey! You’re not alone—I've spent hours fixing simple mistakes too!

So true! Just yesterday, I spent 3 hours troubleshooting my code, and it turned out to be a missing semicolon!

Don’t confuse speed with progress! Spending time on concepts is part of learning. Rethinking and writing code without just following videos can help you grasp the material much better.

Consider switching things up from just watching videos. Getting practical experience through a book and actual coding could really help solidify your understanding!

Take your time with learning! I’ve been in my first job for three months and I’m still picking up new skills every day. It's totally fine to need time to grasp concepts.

Thanks, that makes me feel better!

I’ve been on and off with programming for about 5 years, and I’m still learning new things constantly. Be patient with yourself, and remember practice is key! Also, try to use AI tools to help you learn and understand concepts rather than simply getting quick answers.

Agreed—AI is great for explanations!
