I'm having trouble with my PC freezing up when I alt+tab between a game (I play on Steam using Flatpak) and my web browser (Firefox, also a Flatpak). My computer isn't the most powerful, but it usually handles older games just fine. However, sometimes it becomes completely unresponsive during this process, forcing me to do a hard shutdown by holding down the power button. I didn't have these issues when using Windows, so I'm looking for ways to resolve this without having to turn off my PC. I heard that shutting down like this isn't good for the hardware. I even tried using the KDE Connect command to reboot it, but that didn't work either.

What specific games are you playing, and what version of the Fedora distro are you using? This info might help in identifying if it’s a compatibility issue.
Have you considered switching to the native Steam package instead of the Flatpak version? Sometimes Flatpak's sandboxing can create performance issues that lead to these types of freezes.
It sounds like a potential RAM issue. Desktop environments can be quite resource-heavy, which might be causing your freezes. You could look into using a lighter window manager like IceWM, or disable unnecessary background services to free up some resources.
If your desktop locks up, try Ctrl + Alt + one of the function keys. This might take you to a terminal where you can manually kill the game process without needing to restart your PC.
