Why is my gaming laptop using so much RAM while idle?

I've noticed that my gaming laptop seems to be slowing down, especially when I'm loading Google tabs. Even when nothing is running, my RAM usage hovers around 50% at startup. Each open Google tab is consuming about 500MB, even when they're not being actively used. I've tried removing all extensions and turning off tips and tricks notifications, but I'm still facing this issue. Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve this situation?

It's pretty normal for your RAM to be around 50% used even when idle. Windows does a good job of caching apps in memory that you frequently use to speed things up. If you're not hitting 100% usage, I wouldn't worry too much about it!

That's a good point! So, as long as things aren't freezing up or crashing, it should be fine?

I agree with the others; 50% RAM usage at idle is pretty standard for modern systems. Just make sure you're not running multiple browsers with too many tabs open. Have you tried closing background programs like Norton? That could help improve speed.

Yeah, definitely check if you can temporarily disable any antivirus software to see if that helps.

Just to add, unused RAM is actually just wasted RAM. Windows will free it up if needed, so no need to stress about that 50% showing up as used. Focus on optimizing startup programs instead.
