Upgrading to i5-14600K: Why Are My 1% Lows Worse in Games?

I just upgraded from an i5-13400F to an i5-14600K using a B760M D2H motherboard. While my overall performance has significantly improved, I've noticed that the 1% lows in my gaming performance have actually gotten worse. I'm currently using 32GB of CL22 RAM at 3200MHz, and I'm curious if the RAM could be the reason for this decline in performance. I made this upgrade mainly because I bought a new GPU, an RX 9070, during a Black Friday sale, and my previous CPU was bottlenecking it quite a bit.

The RAM is definitely not helping your cause, but your motherboard might also be limiting power because it only has a 6-phase VRM. You could try tweaking some secondary timings on the RAM. There's a guide on GitHub that might help you with DDR4 overclocking. Just keep your expectations in check since your RAM isn't the highest quality out there.

Have you checked if your BIOS is up to date and installed all the necessary drivers? A clean Windows reinstall can also work wonders for performance issues. Normally, you should experience a significant boost after making sure everything's up to date.
