Help! My Laptop Profile Reset and I Can’t Find My Files

I just woke up, opened my laptop, and found that my entire profile seems to have reset. I got an error message saying 'failed to load profile,' and while my apps are still there, all my files and pictures from the 'Documents' and 'Pictures' directories are gone. Is there any way I can recover them?

Chances are, you haven't lost everything. Check your C: drive for a folder called 'windows.old.' If it exists, check the Users folder inside it, and you should see your username. That could have your missing Documents and Downloads folders.

I checked but found those folders empty. It seems all my files accidentally went into the OneDrive folder instead. Now that my files are seemingly safe, I'm not quite sure how to proceed.

You might want to try restarting your PC first. Sometimes, Windows can get a bit mixed up and ends up loading a temporary profile instead of your usual one. A simple reboot could fix the issue.
