Hey everyone, I'm looking for some feedback on my job search. I'm trying to transition into a DevOps position and have built several projects involving Kubernetes and Terraform to blend my past cybersecurity experience with DevOps. I've tailored my resume to meet ATS standards, but I'm still not getting any responses. I have about 1.7 years of cybersecurity experience, but I had to take a 1.3-year break due to family issues, which I feel might be affecting my job search. Any advice on what I might be missing?

Have you thought about sticking with cybersecurity? It’s a growing field, and your experience there could still be valuable. If you're really set on DevOps, though, getting a few years in development first could help you understand the foundations of the work better.
In my experience, to really get into DevOps, you often need some dev background first. Writing Terraform without some solid development knowledge can limit your opportunities, so focus on strengthening those skills.
Make sure the projects you showcase really stand out. They should be impactful enough that someone looks at them and thinks, "I need to use this!" That can make a big difference.
Just a heads up, the job market for DevOps can be tough right now. You might need a job that involves some automation and infrastructure to really get noticed.
Your career gap might be a concern, but it’s hard to give specific advice without more details. Maybe consider any skills or projects you’ve networking to fill in that resume a bit more!

I can relate! I come from a JavaScript development background, but when I joined my last company, the market wasn’t great, so I took whatever role I could find. I ended up in the cybersecurity SOC, focusing on compliance, but my heart wasn’t in it. Working with the infra team got me interested in DevOps, which is why I made the shift.
