I'm trying to decide on the best SSD configuration for my new PC. I was initially considering a budget-friendly 128GB SSD for the operating system and basic tasks, while getting a faster 2TB SSD specifically for gaming and music software. Does this plan make sense, or would it be wiser to get a single larger SSD for both the OS and my games?

Definitely go for a fast SSD for your OS. Just keep in mind that even a gaming drive will need to go through the OS, so it makes sense to prioritize speed there.
It's not really worth getting a large OS drive unless you have specific software needs that would benefit from it. The OS drive often handles updates and background tasks, while a gaming drive might be less active. I have a 2TB SSD for my OS and only use a fraction of it, even with a couple of games installed.
I think you should have your operating system on a fast SSD. Just get a larger SSD that can handle both the OS and your games; it’s more efficient that way.
These days, having a separate OS drive isn’t really necessary since SSD prices have come down. It's best to put your OS on the fastest drive you can get, as those files are accessed most frequently. It’ll improve your overall speed during everyday use.
