Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a jam with my PC gaming setup. My specs include a Ryzen 7 7800x3D processor, a 4070 Super GPU, 32GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM, a B650e Elite X-AX White motherboard, and a Gigabyte 750W 80+ Gold power supply. I recently swapped out my motherboard, and since then, I've been facing significant FPS drops and annoying micro-stuttering during gameplay. This especially happens in Call of Duty during moments like killstreaks and explosions, where my FPS plummets from 250-260 down to around 40-45. I did try playing Battlefield 6, and while it was better, it still wasn't smooth. My old motherboard handled everything flawlessly. I've gone ahead and reinstalled Windows, updated all drivers, and ran diagnostics, but nothing seems to work. I could really use some help here because I'm quite frustrated. Thanks in advance!

It sounds like there might be an issue with how your CPU is seated or making contact. Since the problems are noticeable during intense moments, it could be worth checking the CPU socket for any bent pins. If everything looks good, try reinstalling the thermal paste and reseating your cooler. Also, I’d suggest running a stress test using Cinebench or OCCT to see if your CPU is performing as expected. If you still encounter issues, double-check your RAM and GPU connections, and ensure your wiring is all secure. Lastly, if nothing works, consider testing with your old motherboard to see if the new one is causing all this trouble.
Have you thought about the fan hub? If it has 8 fans connected, it might be drawing more power than the motherboard can handle. Just something to consider while troubleshooting!
From what you've described, it sounds like quite a hassle! Given that everything was smooth with your previous board, I’d recommend double-checking all your hardware connections. Sometimes, parts can get slightly loose during installation. Maybe run a quick test with just one stick of RAM to see if that stabilizes your FPS. And if all else fails, flip the build back to your old motherboard and see if the performance bounces back. That should help narrow down the problem.

Thanks for the advice! I've checked the CPU socket, and it's flat with no bent pins. I reapplied the thermal paste and reseated the cooler already, but I’ll run the stress tests you suggested. I’ll also look into reseating the RAM and GPU just to be safe.
