How to Recover or Fix an Unreadable microSD Card?

I've got a 64GB Samsung microSD card from my old phone that's suddenly not showing up on my Windows 11 laptop. It worked perfectly fine until now. Here's the situation:
- The card isn't appearing in File Explorer or Disk Management.
- I've tried different USB card readers, as well as using the direct slot on my laptop, but no luck there either.
- I can't see any visible damage on the card itself.

So far, I've tried restarting my computer and running CHKDSK through the admin command prompt, but it reports that the card isn't accessible. Is the card dead, or is there a chance I can recover it? Are there any safe tools or steps I should try before giving up? Thanks!

Have you thought about using a Linux boot disk? Tools like Hirens can bypass Windows restrictions and might help you recover data from the card. It's worth a shot before calling it quits!

Before giving up, try cleaning the gold contacts on the card with a pencil eraser. Sometimes a bit of dirt can prevent the card from making a good connection. Also, check if a different card reader helps.

I second using the eraser trick! It's helped me in the past with similar issues.

Exactly! And if that doesn’t work, visiting a computer shop for a professional opinion could be a good idea.

Unfortunately, it's likely that your SD card is dead. These cards often fail because they use low-quality NAND memory. If you don’t have crucial data on it, it might not be worth the effort or cost to try and fix it. Professional recovery can be expensive.
