Trouble Booting My New Lenovo Laptop from USB Installation Media

I just got a new Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3, and I'm trying to set it up with a USB stick that has the Windows installation media on it. However, I keep getting a Blue Screen of Death with the error code 0xc0000098. This is really frustrating, especially since it's a new device. Should I contact the service center to return it, or is there a way to fix this issue?

It sounds like you're having a rough start! When you see that error code, it usually indicates a problem with the boot configuration. Make sure that your USB stick is properly set up with the installation media. If you can boot into Windows normally or use Safe Mode, check the C:WindowsMinidump directory for any crash dump files that might help diagnose the problem. You might want to upload those to a file sharing site for more detailed help.

Are you having trouble booting from the USB drive at all? Sometimes, it helps to double-check your BIOS settings. Make sure the USB drive is set as the primary boot device and that Secure Boot is disabled. If you’ve already reinstalled the installation media, that’s a good step. If it still doesn’t boot, contacting support might be a good idea, especially since it's new.

Yes, it seems like a common issue with new laptops. Since you mentioned setting Secure Boot off, you might also want to check if there's a legacy mode or UEFI option in your BIOS. Some older USB installation media might need that. Just curious, did you try using a different USB port? Sometimes, that can be the simplest fix!
