My Laptop Won’t Turn On – What Should I Do?

I have a Windows laptop that I haven't used at all today, but when I opened the screen, it didn't turn on. I tried holding the power button, which lit up white for a moment, but then it switched off and the screen never came on. I left it charging for 30 minutes, came back, and still had the same issue. Am I looking at a broken laptop? I usually keep it plugged in all the time, could that be the problem? The charging indicator isn't blinking at all, and I switched outlets. What can I do to fix this?

My laptop acts up when the battery is completely dead. It might be that your charger, cord, or power port are defective. I once faced this issue when my power strip was off. Also, check the user manual to see if there's a hard reset method for when it’s stuck in low power mode.

Have you tried removing the battery and leaving it out for around 10 minutes? You won’t break a laptop by keeping it plugged in all the time, but it can cause the battery to lose its ability to hold a charge.

Have you tried turning it off and then back on again? Sometimes a simple reset can do wonders!

First thing you should try is disconnecting it from the charger, hold down the power button for about 15 seconds, then plug it back in and hold the power button again for another 15 seconds. Let me know what happens after that!

I gave that a shot, but it just turned on to a black screen and then switched off again. Could I have a faulty charger?

What type of charging method are you using? Is it USB-C or a barrel connector? That could be important!

I think it's a barrel connector.

I’m not certain about laptops, but I’ve read that keeping devices plugged in all the time can weaken the battery over time. Have you tried running your laptop just plugged in without the battery? That might mean there's a problem with your battery.
