New to PC Gaming: Need Help with Building My First PC!

Hey everyone! I'm a total PC newbie and I've been gaming on consoles for most of my life. Last year, I got a gaming laptop mainly for schoolwork and some gaming. Now, I'm excited to build my own PC this year! But honestly, I'm a bit overwhelmed. I have a few questions that I could really use your help with:

1. What are the differences between GPU brands? For instance, I was eyeing an ASUS Prime RTX 5070 TI 16GB, but I noticed other brands like Gigabyte GeForce, ASUS TUF, and MSI Gaming also have RTX 5070 TI 16GB options with different price tags. Does the brand actually matter that much?

2. How should I prioritize purchasing the parts? Since I can't buy everything at once, I'll need to pick them up piece by piece throughout the year (if I can still manage to build a PC with how things are going).

3. Are there any good channels or resources I can check out to better understand building a PC and gaming in general?

Thanks a lot! I appreciate any help you can give me, and sorry if my questions seem silly!

To start, it would really help to know your budget and what country you’re in! Games can really vary in requirements, so specifying what you want to play will help. If you're in Canada with a budget of around $2500 to $3000 CAD, that’s a solid amount to work with. Also, are you looking to upgrade your monitor to 1440p? That definitely influences your GPU choice!

Yeah, definitely let us know your gaming preferences! You might want to consider other parts' prices too, like the CPU and RAM.
