Which Graphics Card Should I Choose: RTX 5070 or RX 9700 XT?

I'm trying to decide between two graphics cards: the RTX 5070 and the RX 9700 XT. The prices are $600.04 for the 5070 and $730.96 for the 9700 XT, both after tax. I'm concerned about squeezing my budget to get the 9700 XT, and I'm wondering if it's worth it to cancel my 5070 order. Additionally, are there any significant drawbacks to the 9700 XT? Right now, I'm using a bottlenecked RTX 2060 with an i7-12700kf, and I feel much more comfortable with Nvidia's interface. My last experience with AMD (using an RX 560) wasn't great due to its interface issues when I tried optimizing or fixing bugs.

I really think the 9700 XT is the way to go. The performance difference is quite significant when compared to the 5070.

I'm feeling the same pressure. That $130 difference is tough to manage with my limited birthday and Christmas funds, haha!

If you're leaning toward the 9700 XT, it's currently priced around $650, making it a more appealing option than the original $730. This way, it seems like a solid buy!

Even with the price difference, I'm still looking at $720 in my state, so every bit helps! Thanks for the tip!

If the 9700 XT fits your budget, then definitely go for it, but watch out for the specific model! Some of them come with a 12vhpwr adapter, which has been known to overheat. Nvidia cards might also use this adapter for some higher-end models, so keep that in mind.

Good to know! Thankfully, I've heard that melting issues on the 5070 have been rare, which is comforting as I consider both options.

If you're planning to hold on to the card for more than three years, I'd say go for the 9700 XT if you can manage the cost. Both cards are solid upgrades! Also, let me suggest checking BestBuy frequently until mid-month; you might snag a good deal before the holiday return window closes.
